Falling

I can't swim, so when I jumped off the
diving board I was taking a leap of faith.
First time round I played it cool,
sprang from the tip like the load
of a catapult. I was trying to impress you.
Thankfully, I caught on fast. By the third or
fourth time I was falling backwards,
arms outstretched like Jesus of Nazareth.
Now I'm 18 I'm an olympic athlete.
I've been waiting for this moment since
you first saw me dive, and though you can't
be there now, this much is true:
The first time I fell,
I was falling for you.
